D1 Grand Prix is the originator of professional drifting and continues to be unparalleled as the premiere drifting series in the world.  In the late 90’s several different grass roots drifting events were being held around Japan.  In 2001 the, “Drift King,” Keiichi Tsuchiya and media mogul Daijiro Inada unified the smaller drifting events and created the D1 Grand Prix.  Drifting is the fastest growing motorsport in Japan and this infectious passion for drifting spread like wildfire around the globe.  Today drifting leagues exist on 6 continents, and its popularity continues to grow with the viewing public and young drifters of the future.

2010 marks the next chapter for D1 Grand Prix as it joins forces with D1 Worldwide, which will be a driving force behind growing more international D1 events.  In 2011 D1WE will hold events at the choicest international racetracks with a cast of international drivers.  D1WE will also bring the tire smoke straight into your living room with a new D1 television series.
